Marine Conservation & Education Center
Rewilding The Ocean With Innovation And Education Join Us & Make A DifferenceAbout Us
Based in Ojochal, Costa Rica, the MCEC is a Marine Conservation and Education Center founded by the non-profit organization Innoceana. Our mission is to rewild the ocean with innovation and education. Our brand new center offers marine focused expeditions that infuse the love of adventure with a passion for marine conservation. Do more than dive, become a citizen-scientist, and help our team carry out hands-on research and conservation projects, all while enjoying and exploring the marine hotspots of the Osa Peninsula.
Our center offers single-day experiences, multi-day expeditions, internship opportunities, and more. All the proceeds from our activities go directly to funding the critical marine conservation and education work we are carrying out in Costa Rica. You can also participate in community and education events, join us during our beach clean-ups and explore some of the center’s interactive displays which highlight the innovations we are working on to help save our oceans.

WHY BOOK WITH US?
When you sign up to join us on our activities, not only will you be contributing to the conservation of Costa Rica’s incredible underwater ecosystems, but you will also help in funding our research and conservation projects with your monetary contribution in the form of experiences and expeditions. Without the help of collaborators like you, we would not have the funding to carry out the amazing conservation work we are doing in Costa Rica. Without YOU, there is no MCEC!

Key Collaborators
Mission Blue
The MCEC is the heart of the Biological Marine Corridor of Osa Hope Spot! Innoceana and our 3 Hope Spot Champions Carlos, Yulian and Laura, have successfully nominated the South Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, between Corcovado, Caño Island, Terraba-Sierpe National Wetlands, and Marino Ballena National Park, as a Hope Spot recognized by Mission Blue and our conservation hero Sylvia Earle. This nomination opens the eyes of the public internationally on the biological importance of this area, and will put pressure on local authorities to drastically improve its protection.
