Happy World Ocean Day! We are so thrilled to announce that our first annual impact report of 2021 is here! We are beyond grateful to share this memoir with you, and to bring you along our journey and evolution into the pioneering organization that we are today. You can find the document in English here and in Spanish here.

We’re proud to lead Innoceana into the fourth year of its mission to encourage the world to fall in love with the Ocean. We are preserving marine environments worldwide for future generations by creating a global network of marine conservation and education centers (MCEC’s) that empower coastal communities while actively engaging and inspiring the public through innovative research, education, storytelling, and participation.

This annual report reflects the combined efforts across all Innoceana organizations in Spain, Costa Rica, and the United States. The results that we have achieved—which are highlighted in this impact report—give us hope for the future.

We hope that you are also inspired by these pages about the lasting impact we are making to protect the Ocean that could not have been possible without your incredible support. This impact report is a celebration of our work in honor of World Ocean Day as well as an invitation to continue joining us in turning the tide in 2022!

Innotales – the power of storytelling

When in 2020 the pandemic closed borders, halted tourism, shut schools, forced people away from nature and locked millions of families at home, it also took the Innoceana team away from the sea for the first time in years. This did not stop us, of course. The entire...
