Pelagic Experience
General Information
Private Pelagic Experience: $1,250 per group/family + IVA up to 5 people +$180 per extra person if over 5 people.
Full day Experience. Our Costa Rica Pelagic Tour Includes a certified Biologist or Naturalist, lunch and snacks on the boat, conservation material.
The pelagic zone of the ocean begins at the low tide mark and includes the entire oceanic water column. This ecosystem is largely dependent on the phytoplankton inhabiting the upper, sunlit regions, where most ocean organisms live. During the Pelagic experience, it is common to spot different types of dolphins, whales, sea birds, marine turtles and various types of fish. Sometimes mega pods composed of several species of cetaceans can be observed. These incredible congregations happen when hundreds of individuals reunite for feeding and mating.
Experiences with a purpose
During this special and unique experience, we will look for the mega pods and groups of spinner dolphins that can be found on the South Pacific coast of Costa Rica. You will support and help our biologist and local naturalist to collect important data on sea bird migration and identification. You will also assist in water quality studies, identification and monitoring of cetaceans and other important indicator species thanks to our innovative technology and well equipped boat.
